Safety Certificates Database
As required by Directive (EU) 2016/798, in order to be granted access to the railway infrastructure, a railway undertaking must hold a (single) safety certificate. The award of a (single) safety certificate, gives confirmation that the railway undertaking has established its safety management system and is able to comply with the relevant safety requirements in order to control risks and operate safely in the Member States concerned with the area of operation.
Safety certificates issued under Directive 2004/49/EC remain valid until their date of expiry.
Important note: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, as set out in Regulation (EU) 2021/267:
- In the case where the Polish National Safety Authority is the safety certification body, the time limits for renewal of single safety certificates, issued under Directive (EU) 2016/798, which would otherwise have expired or would otherwise expire between 1 September 2020 and 30 December 2021 shall be deemed to be, or to have been, extended for a period of 10 months. The single safety certificate concerned shall remain valid accordingly.
- In the case where the Polish National Safety Authority is the safety certification body, the time limits for renewal of safety certificates, issued under Directive 2004/49/EC, which would otherwise have expired or would otherwise expire between 1 September 2020 and 30 December 2021 shall be deemed to be, or to have been, extended for a period of 10 months. The safety certificates concerned shall remain valid accordingly.
- In the case where the Greek National Safety Authority is the safety certification body, the time limits for renewal of safety certificates, issued under Directive 2004/49/EC, which would otherwise have expired or would otherwise expire between 1 September 2020 and 30 July 2021 shall be deemed to be, or to have been, extended for a period of 10 months. The safety certificates concerned shall remain valid accordingly.
